About

hey, I'm

Ian Xie

I believe good writing and good code share the same virtues: clarity, empathy, and honesty.

This site splits into Coding — the projects I've built and shipped. Writing — essays, arguments, and slow thoughts, filed by subject, not by mood.

// BACKGROUND

I work at the intersection of AI, HR technology, and enterprise systems — not from a whiteboard, but from inside the machine. My day job involves real decisions about deploying AI in large organizations: what it promises, where it quietly fails, and what it reveals about human nature along the way.

By day: HR technology leader, people analytics practitioner, MBA brain. By night: AI agent-builder, long-form writer, and occasional philosopher who thinks Adam Smith had things to say about machine alignment.

This site is where those two worlds converge — equal parts technical notebook and intellectual sketchpad. A record of what happens when systems and people have to figure each other out.
